When Steelrising was first announced, the action RPG looked like a cross between Dishonered and a Souls game. Steampunk, a gritty world in alternative France during the time of the revolution and lots of blade and gun fights. Now there’s a fresh gameplay trailer for the latest title from Greedfall developers Spiders, which was recently delayed to 08 September 2022.

In Steelrising, we can expect an unconsumed setting with familiar gameplay mechanics.

The unusual but extremely cool-looking setting is one of the main features of Steelrising. Paris during the French Revolution of 1789, but with steel robots, mechanical augmentations and a slightly different historical progression. In this chaos we take on the role of Aegis, a machine bodyguard of Marie Antoinette herself. For the King Louis XVI has a whole army of them with which he cracks down on all resisters and agitators with a heavy hand. Can we prevent further bloodshed between the parties? Might we even gain our own personal freedom from the tyrannical noble hand for which we recently danced at court?

The Steelrising gameplay trailer impressively shows what we can look forward to. Dynamic and tactical battles against human and mechanical opponents as well as demanding boss challenges. The various abilities that we can learn in the course of the game, such as the Dash, which allows us to move at breakneck speed and dodge so nimbly, come in handy.

On 08 September 2022, Steelrising will be released for PC and consoles. How will this alternative version of French history end?
