No game these days represents production hell in modern video game development like Ubisoft’s pirate action-adventure Skull and Bones, which was announced back in 2017. After that, however, apart from postponements, there was nothing new about the open-world title, which is supposed to be strongly inspired by Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Now leaked images are causing a stir on the net. Is a release already on the horizon?

This is what is known about Skull and Bones after the leak

The leaked video doesn’t just contain short snippets of gameplay footage or hard-to-see sequences filmed with a mobile phone camera, but is a full presentation as it could theoretically have been shown at an E3. A narrator’s voice provides the story framework and explains how to take on missions in the game, go on loot and treasure hunts and train your own crew. So we will be on the move in the Indian Ocean during the golden age of piracy, able to steer and equip our own ship and do all sorts of other “buccaneer things”.

The clip also shows other Skull and Bones gameplay mechanics, through which you can see that the pirate game seems to be well advanced in development. Perhaps we can expect an official update from Ubisoft soon. Most recently, the French developer revealed that Skull and Bones will be a “multiplayer first” game, despite single player.

While it was probably not planned to present these images to the public just yet, Ubisoft has nevertheless already confirmed that these are indeed official shots and at the same time promises more details in the near future. However, it is still possible that the mechanics and information to be seen could change considerably by then. However, the leak is a first and quite optimistic sign of life for Skull and Bones.
