The rumors are true: Neverwinter Nights 2 is getting an enhanced version, giving the role-playing game a fresh new look.

Already completed your umpteenth playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3? Slowly but surely, you need a new role-playing game, but you don’t want to turn your back on Faerun? Then you won’t have to wait much longer, because the classic Neverwinter Nights 2 is getting a revamp, and the Enhanced Edition will take you back to the world of Dungeons & Dragons once again.

There were already hints back in February, but the title was officially announced during the PC Gaming Show, complete with a trailer.

What is Neverwinter Nights 2 about?

It’s been 19 long years since the classic first saw the light of day. The Baldur’s Gate series isn’t the only fantastic role-playing game set on the Sword Coast; a little further north, you’ll also find the two Neverwinter Nights games.

In the second part, you must prevent the Lord of Shadows from plunging Faerûn into darkness. Of course, you won’t be doing this alone; you’ll meet up to twelve companions in the game. With over 100 hours of gameplay, you’ll have plenty to do, and that’s not even counting the DLCs! Speaking of which…

What’s included in the Enhanced Edition?

The new version of the role-playing game is said to offer a number of improvements:

  • All three add-ons are included: Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate.
  • The camera controls have been revamped
  • improved textures, smoother gameplay, and even unspecifiedpolished game mechanicsare included.
  • Full controller support
  • Crossplay for all co-op lovers

You won’t have to wait much longer,on July 152025Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.

The game is being developed by Aspyr Media. The Enhanced Edition of the first part from 2018 was still from Beamdog. However, it actually makes sense that two different studios are responsible for the improved versions: after all, the first original Neverwinter Nights was from BioWare, while the second came from Obsidian.
