A patch that changes more than you might think

Hardly any other game in recent years has been improved as often as Cyberpunk 2077. Five years after its release, developer CD Projekt Red has now released another update, version 2.31, which brings some inconspicuous but effective adjustments. In addition to technical refinements and bug fixes, there are also new features that make everyday life in Night City noticeably more pleasant.

One highlight is the enhanced autopilot function. Once you’ve marked a destination in your vehicle, you can now sit back and relax: the car will weave its way through traffic on its own, avoiding obstacles and overtaking other cars – only red lights are still no reason to stop. The update is complemented by improvements to the photo mode. All poses are now available regardless of the selected gender, and characters can be positioned more easily on objects.

But despite all these innovations, it is another detail in particular that is causing excitement in the community – an annoyance that many had completely forgotten about.

Vignette disappears – and fans rejoice

Reddit in particular is celebrating a feature that seems inconspicuous at first glance: the ability to turn off the vignette. These darkened screen edges were originally intended to highlight the HUD displays, but mainly led to unnecessarily dark scenes when crouching.

The reaction from fans is clear. User BaconNamedKevin writes: “Oh my god, finally.” For many players, this is a minor revolution, as only mods could provide a workaround until now. Finally, the option is officially available in the game – albeit somewhat hidden in the settings.

The fact that such a detail is still being added after five years shows how consistently CD Projekt Red continues to refine Cyberpunk 2077. For many fans, it’s reason enough to visit Night City again. Or, as one player aptly commented: “It’s just a small thing – but it’s exactly what makes me want to start Cyberpunk again.”
