Just weeks before its planned release, the co-op shooter Killing Floor 3 has been canceled for the time being. The community has responded positively to this decision.

In February, fans of Killing Floor 3 had the chance to test the co-op shooter in a closed beta – and the feedback was overwhelming. Unfortunately overwhelmingly negative.

The game was supposed to be released on March 25, 2025, but due to the feedback, the developers at Tripwire Interactive decided to cancel the release for the time being.

Missed the target

As we reported in February, Killing Floor 3 received devastating feedback from the community. Among other things, the unstable performance and the new weapon system were criticized. This did not go unheard by those in charge, and to prevent a disastrous release, it was canceled for the time being. In our own forum they write about it:

After taking time to discuss the feedback from the closed beta, we realized that we had missed the mark. (…) With the full support of our parent company, Embracer Group, we are working together on a schedule to address the inconsistencies that players experienced during the beta, including [issues such as] performance/stability, UI/UX, light and weapon feel.

The ability to choose perk class and character independently will also be added later. In addition, there will be a revised, polished version of the game in the future – so you will have another opportunity to be convinced of the quality we are aiming for.

What’s the next step? There is currently no new release date. However, it is planned to release Killing Floor 3 before the end of 2025 Those who have already pre-ordered the game should get their money back or have already received it.

It’s working

For the most part, Tripwire Interactive’s decision has been met with approval on Reddit. CosmosStalker writes, for example:

This is great news. It sounds like they plan to listen to feedback in the future and make changes even after release.

Reddit user caliboyjosh10 is also pleased with the cancellation:

That’s why people are complaining, it’s getting results. I hope they can fix the many bugs by the end of the year.

However, there are also critical voices. For example, StarWorshipper_ writes:

The core gameplay is the problem. The core gameplay will not change.

Killing Floor 2 keeps going strong on Steam There, the co-op shooter continues to attract between 3,000 and 4,000 players at a time almost every day, even though it’s been around for over eight years. We also love the game – in 2023, we voted it 79th best shooter of all time.
