Yesterday afternoon Paradox Interactive published a first blog post for Life by You. In it, the developers talk about the aging process and what age-specific features will be available.

With Life by You, Paradox Interactive wants to take on the long established monopoly of EA and Maxis in the Lifesim genre. Since the official reveal, Paradox has already shared various footage on Twitter to show off the design variety and numerous possibilities in the game.

Now they have published the (first blog entry) to the and explains the in-game aging process.

As the developers explain, there will be infants, toddlers, children, teens, adults, and seniors in the main game of Life by You. When Early Access launches, however, players will only be able to play from teens on up. The reason given for this decision is that they are still working on bug fixes and representations of the aging process for the child age.

Since there will also be year changes in the game, you will be able to celebrate a person’s birthday every year and watch them gradually age.

Continue to move in Life by You

To realistically represent the aging process in Life by You, people’s interactions and abilities will adjust as the game progresses. For example, as people enter their teens, they will be able to cook full menus. The means of transportation will also adapt to age. For example, tricycles, bicycles and skateboards will be available for younger people, while cars can be unlocked in adulthood.

By the way, one second will equal one minute in Life by You So you’ll have to play for 24 minutes to experience an in-game day. However, the developers have already hinted that there will also be a speed-up option. This means that you can make boring scenes of everyday life go by faster, at least in the game. On September 12, Life by You will go into Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
