Just before the release of Last Epoch 1.0, the patch notes have been published – and they are full of excellent new features

February 21, 2024 marks a significant milestone for Last Epoch, which after four years is finally emerging from the Early Access phase on Steam and getting ready to conquer the action RPG world.

Just in time for the release of Last Epoch 1.0, the developers have now published the huge patch notes, which are full of important new features.

The most important new features from the Last Epoch 1.0 patch notes at a glance

Here are the most important new features and changes that will be introduced with patch 1.0 and should establish Last Epoch as a serious competitor for Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2:

  • New Mastery Classes: Introducing the Falconer as the third Rogue Mastery class and the Warlock for the Acolyte class, complete with an arsenal of new abilities.
  • Guilds and Factions: The Circle of Fortune and the Merchant’s Guild offer you new ways to experience the game by allowing you to join a faction that best supports your playstyle.
    • The Circle of Fortune improves passive bonuses for rarer items and increases the amount of loot.
    • The Merchant’s Guild enables direct trading between players.
  • Offline mode: Last Epoch can now be started and played completely offline, so that you can continue playing with a single-player character at any time, even in the event of server problems.
  • Visual and technical improvements: UI overhaul, shader improvements, introduction of a variety of weather effects and addition of 2.5D cinematics to introduce the game and more cinematics throughout the game.
  • Extensive balance changes: A huge amount of item, skill, gameplay and graphical adjustments as well as numerous bug fixes to improve the game experience.
  • Prominent fan contribution: Finally, something curious. David Harbour, well-known actor (including Stranger Things) and self-confessed fan of the game, will soon be represented in Last Epoch with his own helmet.

The complete, ten-page list with all changes can be found in the official forum of developer Eleventh Hour Games. You can also watch all the important new features in the video embedded above

With these extensive changes and innovations, Last Epoch is well on its way to enriching the ARPG scene with a middle ground between the complexity of Path of Exiles and the accessibility of Diablo 4. You can read in our review linked above that this has been an outstanding success. If you want to get off to a good start in Last Epoch with version 1.0, you can also take a look at our starter builds, which we selected together with action RPG expert Lowepe.
