The starting signal for Intel’s XeSS 3 generation has been given: A driver is now available that brings the new Multi Frame Generation to GPUs, among other things – but currently only on the latest notebooks.

Last October, Intel announced the next stage of its in-house upscaling generation XeSS (“Xe Super Sampling”), which was presented in more detail at CES 2026.

  • The third XeSS version not only focuses on improved AI upscaling, but also on Multi Frame Generation – i.e., additional frames via intermediate frame calculation.
  • Intel promises up to three intermediate frames, which, similar to Nvidia’s MFG variant, should provide a massive FPS boost.
  • However, there is still one catch: at the time of publication, Intel’s Multi Frame Generation is only enabled for the new Panther Lake processors, also known as Core Ultra 300.

    One driver, two versions

Since January 26, 2026, the official Intel website has been a reference to a new driver.
At first glance, this seems strange: it is being introduced in two different versions, which are identified by two different numbers.

  • Driver version 32.0.101.8425 is available for download for most Intel graphics solutions such as Alchemist, Battlemage, and Lunar Lake.
  • The only exception: Version 32.0.101.8362 applies to the recently released Panther Lake GPUs, which are gradually making their way onto the market as integrated graphics units on the new “Core Ultra 300” mobile processors.
  • The reason for this lies in the new Multi Frame Generation: The new AI feature is currently exclusive to Panther Lake processors.

However, Intel does not explain why this is the case. In any case, Core Ultra 300 is currently the talk of the town, as initial tests show that Intel has made a more than respectable step forward with its new mobile CPUs.

XeSS MFG itself is not yet officially available in any games, but you can enable the feature yourself in the “Graphics” tab via the “Intel Graphics Software” if you already own a Panther Lake CPU.

The company has not yet announced when the other Intel graphics cards with the corresponding compatibility will follow.
