Warhammer 40K is being adapted by Amazon as a movie and/or TV series. And Henry Cavill is playing a major role in this. The actor now emphasizes how important the project is to him in an interview

Not Superman and not The Witcher: Henry Cavill describes Warhammer 40K as the biggest highlight of his career. In the planned film adaptation of Amazon, the British actor is not only in front of the camera, but is also involved in the creative process as executive producer

The greatest privilege of my professional career

This is a childhood dream come true for Cavill, as he now reveals in an interview with IGN&nbsp. It was actually supposed to be about Matthew Vaughn’s new action film Argylle but Warhammer 40K came up anyway and Cavill emphasizes how important the ambitious Amazon project is to him:

The fact that I have this opportunity is the greatest privilege of my professional career.

I can’t give too much away, we’re still in the early stages. But to have the opportunity to bring [Warhammer 40K] to the screen and to be at the helm to make it as faithful to the original as possible is essential for me.

I’ve been playing Warhammer 40K] since I was a kid. It’s the stuff I dreamed about every spare minute and I still dream about as an adult – and I get to bring it to life! For me, there’s no better reason that I’ve become part of the movie industry than to do something like this.

From The Witcher to Warhammer 40K

Henry Cavill has of course never made a secret of his passion for Warhammer 40K and tabletop role-playing games. The actor showed a similar passion for his role as Geralt of Riva in the Netflix series The Witcher

However, Cavill said goodbye to the film adaptation of author Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels and was replaced by Liam Hemsworth for season 4. The specific reasons for this are not officially known, but many fans suspected that those responsible at Netflix did not respect the original enough in Henry Cavill’s eyes.

Be prepared for a long wait

The planned film adaptation of Warhammer 40K is still in the very early stages on Amazon. For example, it is not known whether it will be a movie or a TV series. According to the rights holders at Games Workshop, however, there is even a chance that an entire Warhammer universe will be created on Amazon.

In any case, fans will have to be patient for the time being According to a last update in January 2024 it could definitely take two to three yearsuntil something about Warhammer 40K by and with Henry Cavill lands on Prime Video. At the moment, the project is in a very early stage of development

Meanwhile, a new action film starring Henry Cavill, Argylle Argylle is being released, but it is anything but well received by critics (and us) and is currently flopping at the box office. On April 19, however, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare by Guy Ritchie will follow, in which Henry Cavill also plays a leading role.

And then there’s Highlander: Chad Stahelski (John Wick) isn’t just remaking the action/fantasy classic for one film, an entire franchise is to be created from it.

What do you think of Warhammer 40K being made into a movie and/or TV series by Amazon? Are you happy about the ambitious adaptation by and with Henry Cavill or could you do without it with a clear conscience? Are you looking forward to Henry Cavill’s upcoming projects like the Guy Ritchie movie and Highlander or could you do without them? Let us know in the comments!
