Larian has released another update for Baldur’s Gate 3 with Hotfix 8. We tell you what’s in it!

It hasn’t been long since the seventh hotfix for Baldur’s Gate 3 was released. Now the eighth hotfix is here and it addresses exactly what a lot of players out there want: Companions don’t stuff your inventory with items anymore, as soon as they have to wait in the camp for a while. That’s why a lot of players had complained.

But the update brings some other small things and especially technical improvements for Baldur’s Gate 3 despite its rather small size.

What’s in hotfix 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3?

As I said: Highlight for the vast majority will probably be the said return to the old behavior of the companions in terms of story items. They keep these now again. This means that their behavior is the same as it was in Update 2, so Larian has reversed the change introduced in Update 3.

Other points that stand out are:

  • Various fixes of previous crash causes
  • Fixed a visual bug caused by fog interacting with different materials.
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to the creation of broken game saves.
  • The cat His majesty has been shorn and his eye colors have been adjusted.
  • Twitch drops are also now claimable in all cases on PlayStation 5.

  • Passengers will no longer transfer story items in their inventory to the player when they leave, restoring the behavior from Patch 2.
  • Reaction popups sometimes do not show text descriptions of available reactions.
  • Fixed a multiplayer crash that occurred when listening to a dialog after an active role.
  • Eavesdropping attack is no longer triggered when a character is in a character creation, such as leveling up or the magic mirror.
  • Fixed a bug in Vulcan that was causing DEVICE_LOST crashes.
  • Fixed a bug that caused skeletons created with Animate Dead to lack any of their ranged weapons, even though they were specialized in them.
  • Fixed an issue where the Weapon Master skill would show as incomplete when a player already had mastered all weapons.
  • Fixed a crash when reassigning characters in split screen.
  • Fixed a visual issue when creating volumetric fog and materials.
  • Fixed an issue with the creation of invalid savegames.
  • Raphael’s hair color and horns have been restored. The House of Hope is modern again.
  • Fixed an issue where the Splint armor for Githyanki women was causing some unnecessary psychedelic visual effects.
  • Shaved His Majesty being a Sphynx again. Adjusted Stahlklaus’ eye color so they are no longer identical twins.
  • Raphael’s portraits were corrected after his hair color was restored. Maybe he was born with it, maybe it is Avernus.
  • Fixed that twitch drops cannot be claimed on PS5.
