The new RTX-4000 cards have been unveiled and come with a hefty price tag. According to Jensen Huang, the products are not expected to get any cheaper.

The new generation of graphics cards from Nvidia has been officially announced since Tuesday. The price for the RTX-4000 cards even exceeds the previous model. According to CEO Jensen Huang, there are several factors for expensive sales figures.

The new flagship of the next generation is the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090. Compared to the RTX 3090 Ti, the new GPU is supposed to be twice as fast. However, a hefty price of 1,949 euros must be paid for the graphics card, which will be released on 12 October. This makes it quite a bit more expensive than its predecessor, and even the RTX-3000 cards often exceeded their retail price (MSRP).

According to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, PC enthusiasts could brace themselves for the GPUs not dropping in price as usual, but remaining as expensive. “The idea that the chips are going to get cheaper is a thing of the past,” Jensen Huang said during a Q&A session on RTX-4000 card pricing.

According to Huang, the rising costs for components and the slower performance increase of the GPUs are decisive for the high prices. However, those who cannot afford an RTX 4000 version but still need a new graphics card currently have a solid alternative in the 3000 series. After all, the price for the GPUs has dropped compared to last year, and they are also in stock.
