We will probably have to wait quite a while for the remake of The Witcher 1. A graphic designer however shows us in the meantime, how his vision looks like

The Witcher 1 is now more than just getting on in years. That’s why a team commissioned by CD Projekt Red is currently working on a remake. But until that appears, it should still take quite a while. So an independent graphic designer and fan of the game series thought to himself: I’ll show you how I would visually implement it! And lo and behold, on Twix (as colleague Sören calls the renamed Twitter) he presents his results:

Clear goals

The main goals of the project, he said, were:

  • Adapt the UI/UX of the original to cross-platform controls.
  • For the art direction, he envisioned a mix of all styles from the entire Witcher series as well as Gwent.
  • However, the greenish tone of the original’s visual appearance was to be preserved.

According to Twix user Arvy, The Witcher 3 or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild served as inspiration for the inventory. He said he especially enjoyed working with all the different design styles that CD Projekt Red has combined in their games over the years.

Community reactions

Arvy is receiving plenty of encouragement for his work on the news service renamed by Elon Musk. Some even advise CD Projekt to collaborate. Twix user Sully sums it up so flatteringly for himself and others:

This is incredible work, so many small and nice details.

The gaming community recognizes how much heart and soul has gone into this graphic declaration of love for the series. If the real remake turns out to be at least as good, quite a few people would be very happy.

What do you think of the designs? Do you like the style, approach and implementation of the graphic designer to/for a remake of The Witcher original? Would you like to see more pictures or would you rather do without them, since it won’t be a real game anyway? If so, what do you think Arvy should show next from the Witcher 1 world? Feel free to write us your opinion and ideas in the comments!
