What the Digital Deluxe Edition of Forspoken already revealed, now gets a date from the developers: The DLC “In Tanta we Trust”.

A promise is a promise, or in the case of the Forspoken DLC: What has been sold must be delivered. Because the Digital Deluxe Edition of the open world role-playing game contained the promise to deliver the DLC “In Tanta We Trust” later. Even though some people at Square Enix were certainly not very happy with this decision.

The addon is now scheduled for release on 26 May 2023. Those who have the regular version can purchase the DLC separately. Owners of the above edition should already get access from the 23rd – of course at no further cost.

Flopp with consequences

Forspoken flopped several times after its release on 24 January this year: Sales were poor and reviews in the trade press were less than kind – although there were a few outliers on the upside.

What does In Tanta We Trust bring to the table?

This is what the press release reveals about the plot: The DLC tells a prequel story to the main game, which is set 25 years before the main game. The protagonist is once again Frey, who continues to search for a way to stop the all-corrupting miasma called The Break.

Guided by a mysterious voice, she soon finds herself in a special place. This leads her to the legendary battle, the Purification of the Rheddig, which devastated Athia and drove the Tantas mad. Promised are unique vertical environments where Frey’s magically enhanced parkour skills will once again be put to the test.

Since the developers of Forspoken have since moved on elsewhere at Square Enix, it remains to be seen whether Forspoken might be expanded further. It is more likely, however, that the Forspoken brand will be put on ice for the time being.

What about you guys? Will you give Forspoken another chance with the DLC or has the ship sailed for you long ago? Were you interested in the open world role-playing game at all? Tell us what you think in the comments!
