Fallout New Vegas in Unreal Engine 5: This is how chic a remake Bethesda will never make could be

Bethesda’s end-times game is pretty well aged, but a fan video now shows just how outrageously beautiful a remake could look.

Let’s be honest with ourselves: Fallout fans will have to wait a while longer for more game fodder. The makers of Fallout New Vegas, Obsidian Entertainment, may be doing better than ever under Microsoft, but they’re already working on four other projects. And that Bethesda will be working on a Fallout 5 after The Elder Scrolls 6 has already been confirmed by Todd Howard, but even that is still a lot of pipe dreaming.

A glimpse into the unlikely future

So we will still only be able to dream of a New Vegas remake. But the following fan trailer offers us an idea of what a remake in Unreal Engine 5 might look like:

It’s easy to forget that the game is actually 12 years old! Rarely has a wasteland looked so appealing. The makers of the video, “TeaserPlay”, have already created several fictional concept trailers for games in the Unreal Engine 5. Among others, for Far Cry 3, GTA 3 or Assassin’s Creed Infinity. There was also a video for the predecessor of Red Dead Redemption!

When is a new Fallout coming?

Bethesda has its hands full at the moment – Starfield will be released next year, but after that the role-playing experts will concentrate on The Elder Scrolls 6 – and that will take some time. After that, however, chief developer Todd Howard confirmed that they will be working on a new Fallout. Industry insider Jason Schreier already joked on Twitter that Fallout 5 would not be released until 2038 after all the postponements.

Another insider thought it was likely that Obsidian would release a New Vegas 2 before that a few months ago. But this game could also be a long time coming, if it is actually developed.

Those who don’t want to wait for Fallout 5, New Vegas 2 or other Fallout titles can at least hope for big mod projects like Fallout: Miami or Fallout: London. The fact that they are losing various developers to Bethesda speaks for their quality!

But if you are explicitly looking for a New Vegas with nicer graphics, then you can take a closer look at the mod Fallout 4: New Vegas. This has also been in the works for several years. Of course, it doesn’t come close to the graphically impressive quality of the Unreal Engine 5 video, but it’s certainly a bit nicer.
