Elden Ring Guide: How to find the Sword of Night and Flame early

Though a particularly powerful sword is hidden in an area that you normally only visit later, you can still get hold of it at the beginning. We’ll show you how to get it!

The Sword of Night and Flame has become one of the top tier swords in Elden Ring. Although the basic damage of the one-handed sword is not the highest, it can come up trumps with two magical attacks that really pack a punch. We explain where you can find the sword and who it is suitable for.

The requirements to be able to wield the one-hander

Even if you can get hold of the sword early on, you first have to invest some runes in level ups to be able to wield it at all. Nevertheless, you can distribute your points at the beginning, because the possibility to reset your stats will be unlocked at a later point in time.

Location: Caria House

If you want to go the long way to Liurnia without completing Storm Veil Castle first, you can ride along a hidden mountain path on the right to get to the next area.

In the northwest of Liurnia you will come across the next dungeon: House Caria. This contains some spider-like enemies that will do you a lot of damage. That’s why you should take your legs in your hands, especially at the beginning.

• Enter House Caria in the northwest of Liurnia

• Do not follow the road to the well but turn directly left.

• But beware: there are some vicious hands buried here that will attack you as soon as you walk over them.

• When you have run up the slope for a while, you should come to this tower entrance. Enter it quickly to lose the enemies.

• Run up the stairs and activate the place of mercy lower level of the mansion. Head outside and run straight across the narrow bridge. Turn left at the end and then directly right.

• At the spot where a piece of wall has broken away, you should now be able to see a house below you. Jump onto the roof with a courageous jump.

• A few steps further you can drop down onto the next roof and you should be able to spot a ladder that leads further into the house.
  • Climb down the ladder and go to the back of the room. There you will find a chest containing the Sword of Night and Flame.
  • • Turn 180 degrees and you can also open a shortcut to the courtyard.
