The MMO Dune Awakening is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series. But that’s not the only surprise: the PC version is also getting an update that will be particularly exciting for solo players.
Dune Awakeningis aMMO and open-world survival gameset in the sci-fi universe based on Frank Herbert’s book Dune and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. The game has been available for PC since June 10, 2025, and now a console version has been announced, set to release onSeptember 22, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series.
But those already playing on PC won’t be left empty-handed. In a trailer and press release, developer Funcom announced not only the console release but also an update that revamps both versions. This is particularly exciting for single-player gamers, as it introduces a solo mode and new story content to the game.
Everything About the Console Version
If you want to play on the console, Dune Awakening costs different amounts depending on the edition:
- Standard (50 euros)
- Deluxe (70 euros)
- Ultimate (90 euros)
Those who pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate version,will also receive early access. As mentioned, the release for everyone is set for September 22, 2026. Controls and the user interface will also be adapted for the console version. The target performance is 60fps on PlayStation and Xbox. Dune Awakening will also be available on Game Pass and will offer cross-play.
In addition, all content released for the PC version since the original launch will be included, including optional PvP, endgame improvements, as well as dedicated servers and additional story content that has been added over the past few months. Aside from the port, however, the following content will be released simultaneously for all platforms.
New Trailer Introduces Story Update for PC and Console
The developers are also announcing a major improvement for PC.With this update, Dune Awakening will be fully available in single-player modeoffering a true single-player experience with a scalable difficulty level and additional customization options.
To go along with this, there will also benew story content that lets you experience the finale of the first book up close. These changes will also go live via patch on all platforms alongside the console release. But it doesn’t end in September—according to Funcom, more content such as new maps and survival mechanics is already in the works.
Dune Awakening has lost a bit of momentum lately, but could gain some traction again with the update and the console release. In this open-world survival MMO, you explore the iconic desert planet Arrakis and fight for your survival.
