Doom: The Dark Ages has not only revealed the release date, but also the PC system requirements. Your GPU must be able to handle raytracing.

During the recent Xbox Developers Direct, developer studio id Software finally revealed more details about Doom: The Dark Ages. Starting May 15, 2025, you’ll be able to throw yourself into what will hopefully be an appealing shootout again.

This time, it’s set in the Middle Ages, and Doom: The Dark Ages will advance in six different ways. In addition to the new revelations about the gameplay and the release date, id Software has now also released the PC system requirements for the Doom prequel

The following specifications are required for Doom: The Dark Ages:

    • Example: Nvidia Geforce RTX 4080 / AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT or better

  • Memory: 100 GB free SSD capacity
  • Operating system: Windows 10 / 11 64-bit

Similar to last month’s release of , Doom: The Dark Ages also requires a graphics card that supports ray tracing. However, Intel GPUs from the Alchemist and Battlemage series are not mentioned.

No wonder, the latest Bethesda adventure works with idTech7 as its engine, while the upcoming shooter will be upgraded to the eighth version of the engine.

This also explains the GPU requirement: id Software promises “a new era of performance and image quality”.

This also includes the new dynamic and interactive raytracing lights and shadows. Of course, “more destruction” is also included. Path tracing is also supposed to be on board according to the announcement – however, information about this is only to follow at a later date.
