Disney has commissioned a reboot of the popular 1990s animated series, and a cast has already been announced.
“I’ve got to dig out that childhood photo of me wearing my Darkwing Duck costume right away!” It’s Wednesday morning, and the news that the animated hero is returning after 35 years has our editor-in-chief Dimi’s eyes lighting up.
Yes, you heard right: Disney has ordered a Darkwing Duck reboot and the cast is brimming with big names. Leading the way, Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill is lending his voice to Drake Mallard, aka Darkwing Duck. We’ll now reveal who else is on board and exactly what the animated series is about.
Everything Known About the Darkwing Duck Reboot
Apparently, Darkwing Duck hasn’t fared too well over the past 35 years, as the official plot description mentions a parallel universe

For 35 years, Darkwing Duck has been trapped in his worst nightmare: a parallel universe where no one knows about his superhero exploits. Then a rebellious teenager named Duckie shows up, who knows everything about his heroic past and tries to drag the self-centered vigilante back into the fray.
Together, this unlikely duo will face dangerous battles against old enemies like Negaduck and Megavolt and reunite with their allies Launchpad, Gosalyn, and Morgana to save the entire universe.

The screenplay is written by Sean Tretta and Borja Peña Gorostegui. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, and Gabby Grantham are serving as producers. The creator of the original series, Tad Stones, also had a say in the development and served as a consultant on the production.
What is Darkwing Duck again?
By day, Drake Mallard (Jim Cummings) leads a perfectly ordinary life as a single father, and by night, he protects the streets from eccentric superheroes. His clumsy friend Quack (Terrence McGovern) helps him balance his double life as a hero and a father.
