With the latest patch, Crimson Desert is making up some ground with fans. Among other things, the update brings five new mounts and many new comfort functions, but also finally reduces stamina consumption when flying.

Crimson Deserthas been on the market for just under a week and a half now and developer Pearl Abyss has done an amazing job in that time. At launch, the Korean open-world game only had balanced user reviews on Steam. Many players were frustrated by the cumbersome controls and the comparatively difficult start.

However, the developers have been improving the game with patches for several days now and have managed to get Crimson Desert to around 80 percent positive ratings on Steam.

On March 29, the update 1.01.00 was rolled out on PC and consoles, which should give the user ratings another big boost, as it addresses many of the community’s major pain points.

Many players complained about the lack of comfort functions at the launch of Crimson Desert. The game bombards you with mechanics, but explains comparatively little and hides many functions in unnecessarily confusing menus. Patch 1.01.00 addresses this and promises more convenience when cooking, opening doors, collecting resources and trading.

Flying has also been made much easier: The new update has significantly reduced the amount of stamina required to move through the air, allowing you to cover longer distances in flight than before. There are alsofive new legendary mounts, which should be a lot of fun for collectors. Here is a brief selection of the highlights:

The highlights of patch 1.01.00

  • Five new mounts:

    • Legendary mounts: White Bear, Silver Tooth, White Stag
    • Boss mounts: Stonecutter warthog, Icebolt mountain ibex

  • Stamina consumption when flying and sprinting has been drastically reduced
  • Bosses no longer attack immediately after reviving with herbal pills.
  • New comfort functions such as cooking everything at once or confirm button before consuming keys.
  • Many new food vendors
  • Water can now be drawn from wells
  • Stealing no longer reduces your reputation if you are not seen doing it.
  • NewRefinement Coins that upgrade items directly to level 4 without consuming more resources.
  • Changed sprint controls:

    • Tap once: Run
    • Tap twice: Sprint until your stamina is empty

  • Ore from the drill and wood collected with the chainsaw now lands directly in the inventory.
  • The loading times for fast travel and resurrection have been shortened.

With this update 1.01.00 many more nice changes You can find the complete patch notes as usual on the second page of this article.

In our opinion, Crimson Desert is taking an important step in the right direction with this update, as Pearl Abyss is responding to criticism from the community at breathtaking speed. The developers have already ironed out many of the criticisms that fans had at launch.
