The BAFTA Games Awards 2024 were another success for Larian. Their role-playing game won five awards, but Nintendo can also celebrate

You could almost think that Baldur’s Gate 3 is a pretty good game. Larian’s latest role-playing masterpiece is still winning prizes at international awards ceremonies in 2024, including the BAFTA Games Awards.

The developers can now put five more prizes on their shelf. We list all the winners of the BAFTA Games Awards 2024

These prizes were won by Baldur’s Gate 3

Four awards went to the game itself, namely:

  • Best Game
  • Music
  • Narrative
  • EE Player’s Choice (Audience Award)

The BAFTAs were accepted jointly by the Larian team. Composer Borislav Slavov, who has already worked with the studio on Divinity: Original Sin, is obviously particularly pleased… On X (formerly Twitter) he thanked them effusively  for the award for his work

Another award (Performer in a Supporting Role) went to an actor from Baldur’s Gate 3: Andrew Wincott, who embodies and voices the devilish Raphael. It was his first ever motion capture role – and not an easy experience, as he recounts in his acceptance speech:

The evening was also quite successful for Nintendo, as well as for Alan Wake 2, which secured a double pack of awards

  • Animation: Hi-Fi Rush
  • Artistic Achievement: Alan Wake 2
  • Audio Achievement: Alan Wake 2
  • Best Game: Baldur’s Gate 3
  • British Game: Viewfinder

  • Debut Game: Venba
  • Evolving Game: Cyberpunk 2077
  • Family: Super Mario Bros. Wonder
  • Game Beyond Entertainment: Tchia
  • Game Design: Dave the Diver
  • Multiplayer: Super Mario Bros. Wonder
  • Music: Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Narrative: Baldur’s Gate 3
  • New Intellectual Property: Viewfinder
  • Performer in a Leading Role: Nadji Jeter (Miles Morales in Spider-Man 2)
  • Performer in a Supporting Role: Andrew Wincott (Raphael from Baldur’s Gate 3)
  • Technical Achievement: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  • Special Award: SpecialEffect (organization that aims to improve accessibility of games for the physically disabled)
  • EE Player’s Choice Award: Baldur’s Gate 3

In their acceptance speeches, the makers of Baldur’s Gate 3 particularly emphasized how important it is for the industry to keep passion and creativity alive. Just a few days ago, Larian CEO Swen Vincke had strong words for the current state of the video game world.

The BAFTA Games Awards are also known as the British Academy Games Awards and were held for the 20th time in 2024. They were held in London and games released between December 10, 2022 and November 24, 2023 were eligible to enter.

Would you have awarded one or two prizes differently or do you agree with the jury?
