Update 1.4.2 for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is in the starting blocks. We have all the info on download size, launch time and Co.

Normally, big gigabyte patches are always a reason for joy, because they announce new content. But this time Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is keeping it like Call of Duty: Despite the generous download size of 11 GB, patch 1.4.2 is primarily a background fix.

But hey, that’s certainly not a bad idea right before the next big DLC Dawn of Ragnarok, because then everything is on track for the extensive title update in March 2022.

Nevertheless, let’s take a look at what patch 1.4.2 is all about.

AC Valhalla: What does Update 1.4.2 fix?

Ubisoft is quite vague about what the update actually fixes. Apparently some HD textures were not displayed correctly – this problem should now be a thing of the past:

The patch probably replaces certain textures and is therefore 11 GB thick. Away from that, there are no patch notes because the update doesn’t address any other issues.

How big is update 1.4.2 on all platforms?

The download size of the patch varies by platform:

  • PC: 11.08 GB
  • Xbox One: 5.1 GB
  • Xbox Series X/S: 6.6 GB
  • PS4: 3.03 GB
  • PS5: 2.5 GB

So on the PC you have to download by far the largest package.

Start time: When can I download patch 1.4.2?

You can download update 1.4.2 from 1 February. The patch will go live here as usual around 1pm, Uplay should start downloading then unless you have disabled automatic updates.

The (official blogposting for patch 1.4.2) also shows a few shop items that you will soon be able to buy at face value:

As already written: March 2022 will see the next major DLC, Dawn of Ragnarok, which will also herald the second major content year for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You can see the trailer here:

Are you looking forward to the new content that is already waiting in the wings with Dawn of Ragnarok? Or have you hung up your assassin gloves for good until the next big instalment in the series? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments.
