A few days ago, Ubisoft announced the roadmap for Shadows, and now the first new content is already here: Patch 1.0.4 brings a new free quest, an improved codex, and other fixes.
Fans of ancient Japan are in for a treat today.Ubisoft’s open-world action game Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive its first story update on May 6, 2025. With the upcoming patch 1.0.4, the quest The Works of Luis Frois
will find its way into the game. Ubisoft officially announced this just a few days ago when it unveiled the content roadmap for Shadows.
But the story pack isn’t all there is, of course. Before we clarify what’s included in the new update, here are the most important details: Patch 1.0.4 will be released at 4:00 p.m. The update size varies depending on the platform:
- PlayStation 5: 4.67 GB
- Xbox Series: 20 GB
- MAC: 9 GB
- PC: 17 GB
- Steam: 8.5 GB
What’s in the new Shadows update?
As mentioned at the beginning, the main content of the upcoming update is the new quest The Works of Luis Frois
The Jesuit priest is an old acquaintance of Samurai Yasukeand came to Japan with him. During the quest series, you will have to retrieve stolen notes and protect a court lady, among other things. You will also learn more about the background of the Jesuit order.
You can play this mission with either Yasuke or Naoe. You start it by visiting Luis Frois in the church of Azuchi after completing the main mission The Path He Walks
It is located south of the merchant district.
More overview in the codex
The second important change in patch 1.0.4 concerns the Codex database. Until now, it contained a lot of useful information about Japanese culture, but nothing about Naoe, Yasuke, and your allies in the Kakushiba clan.
With this update, Ubisoft is adding short biographies of the various characters to the game, as requested by fans. These entries will help you keep track of the many allies and enemies you encounter on your journey through Japan.
