In Helldivers 2, the apocalypse is looming: a singularity has swallowed the first planet and is moving inexorably towards Super Earth.

The galaxy of Helldivers 2 is in turmoil: Angel’s Venture, a once-prosperous Super Earth colony, has been swallowed by a gigantic singularity.

This dramatic turn of events in the ongoing community campaign has caused consternation and anger among players – and raises a disturbing question: Is Super Earth next?

From defensive success to disaster

On Wednesday evening, everything seemed to be fine. The players had successfully fended off nine of eleven waves of attack by the mysterious Illuminati. Most of the Helldiver took a well-deserved break, assuming that the night shift would finish the job. But the next morning, the shock: Angel’s Venture no longer existed

An official in-game briefing reads as follows:

Angel’s Venture was torn apart by the gravitational force of the Meridia singularity.

This is an immeasurable loss.

The land cultivated from generation to generation. The lives of the citizens of the super-earth, whose evacuation could not be prioritized. The proud pines that shaded the campground of the Democratic Youth Scouts. All lost forever, torn to shreds by wild cosmic forces.

Finally, the Illuminati, who have been hiding behind their mask of intelligence and sophistication, have revealed what they really want: a bloodbath.

While the Helldivers had previously been taking care of the fight against the Automatons, the Illuminate had apparently been quietly gathering enough dark energy to release the singularity on Angel’s Venture. Now the gravitational monster is moving inexorably towards Super Earth.

What is behind the Meridia singularity?

The origin of this cosmic disaster lies in an old Helldiver mission: Meridia was once a planet that was converted into a supercolony by the Terminids. To get the endless insect plague under control, vast amounts of Dark Fluid were pumped into the planet – until it collapsed and left a huge wormhole.

The Illuminati have now converted the Meridia wormhole into a weapon to wipe out entire planets. Angel’s Venture was just the first victim, and the community fears the worst: five more planets lie directly in the singularity’s path – and Super Earth awaits at the end

Guys. This seems bad.

The Helldivers community demands revenge

The loss of Angel’s Venture has triggered a storm of reactions. Many Reddit users are fighting back.

AN ALL HELLDIVERS: We must do everything in our power to stop the movement of the Meridia singularity! The science ministers believe that it is related to the Illuminati activities – so destroy the Squids!– humble-chocolate5544

Gentlemen, our home is now scattered across the stars – but do we give up?! – Typical_Alps2111

But not everyone is taking the loss lightly. Another Helldiver is feeling down:

I earn many medals for my family, but this was not worth losing another planet to tyranny and destruction. I am ashamed. – Nutterbunny

What happens now?

Super Earth has officially declared a 24-hour national mourning, but the military response is already being planned. The first step is: reconquering the planet Hort to give the Illuminate a first counterstrike.

But what if there is no way to stop the singularity? One player already has a plan: We have to buy time until Super Earth’s brilliant scientists somehow figure out how to stop… a black hole.

The clock is ticking and humanity’s future hangs in the balance. The only question left is: can the Helldivers save Super Earth from destruction?
