The new Anno DLC was originally supposed to release on April 23, but was then postponed. However, that doesn’t seem to have gone entirely smoothly.
Shortly before the release ofAnno 117: The Promise of the Volcano, there was some bad news after all. The team discovered a critical bug in the new game version and had to postpone both the update and the DLC.Now the expansion will no longer be released on April 23, but on April 30 instead.
Consequently, there was no patch released on April 23… or was there? In fact, it seems not all platforms were aware of the delay.On Xbox, all Anno playersstill saw a large patch on April 23 and were even allowed to download approximately 18 gigabytes of data. How is that possible?

Early Patch on Xbox
As it turns out, this was indeed the delayed patch. This was evident from the fact that affected players could activate the DLC when starting a new game.
However, it was not possible to play the expansion early. Apparently, while the DLC could be selected, a new game could not be started. Whether the many new features and improvements of Patch 1.5 were active aside from the DLC cannot be determined based on the information gathered.
It is also no longer possible to download the patch on Xbox. Ubisoft Mainz intervened when the entire download became public. In addition, theya noticesent to everyone who was already able to download the update:
Hello everyone, a quick update for Xbox players: The patch that was accidentally released has been disabled. If you’ve already installed it, you should receive a prompt to revert to an earlier version. We strongly recommend that you do so.
The urgent advice to revert the game should be taken seriously. After all, it’s likely that the version still contains the bug that caused the DLC to be delayed. According to Ubisoft, the bug could corrupt save files.
Wait until April 30
Even this curious bug couldn’t shorten the wait until the release of Promise of the Volcano. So everyone will still have to wait until April 30. The DLC is the first major expansion for the city-building game and introduces the largest island in Anno history. However, there’s also a volcano on the island that erupts regularly.
