The first major DLC was supposed to be released on April 23, but now Anno fans will have to wait even longer.
In a perfect world, fans of Anno 117 could dive into the first major DLC today, April 23, and enjoy the largest island in Anno history. Unfortunately, we all know our world isn’t perfect. And that’s why many players will likely have to find something else to do this weekend.

Critical bug foundA critical bug is to blame for this rather sudden delay.According to the developers, the planned version revealed a last-minute bug that they absolutely did not want to subject players to.
It is reportedly a bug that could potentially wipe out your save data. Especially in a game like Anno, where many players spend hundreds of hours building on the same island world, that would have been an absolute disaster.
Even though it is “only” a bug, the release had to be postponed by several days as a result.As a developer writes on Reddit, this is due to a rather lengthy process. Over the next few days, the bug needs to be fixed, the version retested, and a new date agreed upon with the studio’s partners. That just takes time.
Along with the DLC, the planned Patch 1.5 has also been pushed back to April 30.The update was actually supposed to arrive today as well and had a few improvements in store that fans have been hoping for for a long time.
The patch notes for the update were scheduled for April 22, but are now also delayed until next week. At least we already know a few of them:

Of course, this is all disappointing for now, but the Anno team has at least announced a few pieces of good news as a small consolation. First, the team is thrilled to have 1.17 million players, which is a great number.
But for us as players, the next free weekend is probably even more exciting.Starting today, April 23, 2026, at 5 p.m., you can try Anno 117 completely free of charge or ask friends who don’t own the game if they’d like to start a co-op session with you.
Anno 117 will remain free to play until April 27 at 2 p.m. The offer applies to PC, PS5, and Xbox. On the latter, however, the free promotion ends a little earlier, at 9 a.m.
