Sony is introducing three new televisions: the Bravia 8 II, Bravia 5 and Bravia 3. For one of them, Sony is once again using OLED.

After Sony’s somewhat surprising switch to LED technology for Bravia TVs last year, 2025 sees a return to OLED for at least one new TV.

That happened: Sony has officially unveiled three new Bravia TVs and accessories.

The new upper class: Bravia 8 II

With the Bravia 8 II, Sony is introducing the successor to the A95L. The model will be available in 55-inch (approx. 140 centimeters) and 65-inch (approx. 165 centimeters) sizes. Both support 4K Ultra HD and use Google TV.

According to Sony, the TV’s new QD-OLED panel offers better blacks, wider color reproduction and improved HDR performance compared to the A95L. Maximum brightness is also said to be slightly improved thanks to improved heat management.

The processor is Sony’s Bravia XR, which is equipped with an AI scene recognition system in the latest generation. This is intended to optimize image reproduction through the use of AI.

For audio capabilities, Sony relies on Acoustic Surface Audio+.

Good to know:With Acoustic Surface Audio+, the screen is made to vibrate to allow the sound to be generated directly by the TV. Sounds come from exactly those areas of the screen where the action is taking place. The sound of squealing tires, for example, would come directly from them on the screen.

Technologies such as HDR10, Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced, HLG, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are supported.

The new Sony Bravia 8 II will be available in stores from June 2025. Sony is charging €2,599 for the 55-inch version. The 65-inch model is available for 3,299 euros.

Mid-range and entry-level: Sony Bravia 5 and Bravia 3

Unlike the Bravia 8 II, Sony relies on mini-LED technology here.

The Bravia 5 offers 4K resolution at 120 Hz. The LEDs are controlled by Sony’s XR Backlight Master Drive technology, which is mainly used in professional monitors.

The TV supports a whole range of standards, including HDR10, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and IMAX Enhanced.

Sony is offering the Bravia 5 in five different sizes. It is scheduled to be launched in May 2025:

  • 55 inch for 1,549 euros
  • 65 inch for 1,899 euros
  • 75 inch for 2,229 euros
  • 85 inch for 2,999 euros
  • 98 inches for 5,499 euros

The new entry-level model Bravia 3 offers regular LED lighting. Sony also supports 4K Ultra HD and standards such as HDR. Google TV is the platform used.

The TV is available in six different sizes. It is also scheduled to be released in May 2025.

  • 43 inches for 799 euros
  • 50 inches for 899 euros
  • 55 inches for 999 euros
  • 65 inches for 1,249 euros
  • 75 inches for 1,649 euros
  • 85 inches for 2,299 euros

The Bravia 8 II and Bravia 5 models also support “Calibrated Mode”. This is designed to improve the picture quality of movies and series on supported services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

Now we want to hear your opinion. What do you think of the televisions presented? Is there one for you or have you set your sights on other models? Please feel free to write us a comment.
