Warhorse Studios is making a big comeback and causing a stir in the gaming world. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the long-awaited sequel to the medieval role-playing game, has sold more than two million copies in less than two weeks. With this, the Czech development studio is once again making history. But what is the secret of the game’s success, and why are so many gamers drawn to it?

A hero returns – and with him a gripping story

Fans of the first part can rejoice: Henry of Skalitz’s journey continues. The former blacksmith’s apprentice, who worked his way up to knighthood in the service of Sir Radzig Kobyla, once again finds himself embroiled in the turmoil of a medieval conflict. The story takes place in 1403, a time of political upheaval and armed conflict in Bohemia.

This time, Henry is once again joined by the charismatic Sir Hans Capon of Perkstein. Together, they are to deliver a seemingly simple letter to Otto of Bergow. But as so often in the world of Kingdom Come, things don’t go as planned. A sudden turn of events costs Henry everything he has worked hard for and forces him to prove his strengths – be it in combat, cunning or diplomatic skill – once again. The player’s decisions influence not only the course of the story, but also its dramatic conclusion.

Why Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 sets new standards

In addition to the compelling story, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is particularly impressive for its attention to detail. The developers have used the last few years to incorporate feedback from fans and take the game to a new level. An improved combat system, more realistic AI and a breathtakingly authentic world make the role-playing game one of the most immersive experiences in the genre.

Critics are also thrilled. TVPulse Magazine describes the game as “one of the most ambitious and immersive medieval RPGs ever” and praises the consistent further development of the series. Since its release on February 4, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S, it has become clear that Warhorse Studios has not only created a sequel, but a masterpiece that redefines the bar for the genre.
