What is Sea of Stars?

It is a retro role-playing game whose development was successfully funded (via Kickstarter) where it raised the equivalent of over one million euros. While Sea of Stars is supposed to be a homage to the 90s on the one hand, it also wants to bring enough personality of its own. The trailer already shows you what the gameplay looks like:

According to the developers from Sabotage Studio (The Messenger), the role-playing game will be characterised by the following features:

  • Round-based combat: Among other things, the timing of hits, combos with several characters, as well as making enemy power attacks more difficult should play a role. On the other hand, there will be no battlefields separated from the world and no grind.
  • Free exploration: You move through the fantasy world running, climbing and swimming and are not bound to classic, grid-based movement.
  • Suspenseful Story: There shall epic, funny and emotional be told stories with dozens of original characters. The main story is about two children who must use their powerful magic against an evil alchemist.
  • Many side activities: If you don’t feel like questing, you can also sail, cook, fish, play board games or listen to a song in the tavern in Sea of Stars.

What platforms is it available on?

With the release for PlayStation 4 and 5, the demo is currently available for all release platforms So you can also play the game on the PC (via Steam) Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.

Gamers who have a subscription to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium will also be able to play the full version of Sea of Stars right at release at no extra cost.
