We show you games that don’t immediately pop up on everyone’s radar. This week, especially role-playing and survival fans get their money’s worth

Another week rushes by, again there are new games on Steam that can be easily overlooked. So that this does not happen to you, we have created this format. This is where small games, indies and outsiders get a chance to shine, but are well received by gamers!

This time you’ll get to know the zombie apocalypse from a fresh perspective, punish masses of sinners in hell, and experience a role-playing game with beautifully designed environments. If you like to swim off-stream, just read on.

HumanitZ

(Genre: Survival game – Release: September 18, 2023 (Early Access) – Price: 19,99 Euro)

Survival in a zombie apocalypse, the 14,760th? One might assume. However, HumanitZ comes across quite differently than survival games like DayZ and co. Here you play mainly from the iso-perspective. The rest is familiar: Open world, zombie masses, vehicles, base building. By the way, HumanitZ is designed for co-op, but can also be played alone.

The title’s perspective is strongly reminiscent of Project Zomboid, one of the longest-running Early Access titles ever!

God of Weapons

(Genre: Action-Roguelike – Release: Sep 13, 2023 – Price: 4.99 Euro)

Since this format has existed, at least one roguelike has been part of the selection … because it’s just new and popular. Anyway, God of Weapons is really action-heavy, lets you beat up heaps of monsters and relies on repetition to get stronger and more efficient. It’s also pretty cheap to own.

If you want to discover more new games away from the masses, check out our last week’s Steam secret tips.

Heretic’s Fork

(Genre: Deckbuilding Action – Release: Sep 13, 2023 – Price: 9.75 Euro)

What would hell be without the hardworking flagellants who make sinners’ afterlife, er … to hell. In Heretic’s Fork, you have the responsibility of inflicting an appropriate amount of torment on the population of Hell. To do this, you’ll use cards, build torture towers and expand your torture methods, laugh diabolically from time to time, and rejoice when you can add new cards to your deck.

Moonstone Island

(Genre: Simulation/RPG – Release: Sep 20, 2023 – Price: 19.50 Euro)

Like Stardew Valley, but different. So a bit. Moonstone Island ventures the next entry in the genre Pixelart life simulation role-playing game à la Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley and co. The mix of building a farm, making friends and beating up monsters goes down very well with Steam fans. And it’s cute to boot.

Wandering Sword

(Genre: Swordplay role-playing game – Release: Sep 15, 2023 – Price: 24.50 Euro)

And another role-playing game that is also beautifully designed to die for, at least if you like a mix of 2D pixels and 3D levels: In Wandering Sword, you follow the story of a young swordsman who gets caught up in a feud. While on the run, he makes the decision to embark on a new path and become a sword fighting master. The game stands out with a great pixelart style and is reminiscent of Octopath Traveller, but adds its own touches with the Chinese scenario.

Have you found a potential new game for you this week? Which one appeals to you the most? Would you rather have seen a different game here? Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments!
