EA Sports has released the first trailer for the FIFA successor EA Sports FC. One small detail in particular is causing quite a stir. Is there no more FUT in FC24?

The Reveal-Trailer for EA Sports FC 24 is here! Well, at least part of it. Even though publisher EA Sports will release the full version only on Thursday, July 13th in the course of the FC Clubhouse event in Amsterdam, the 90 seconds long video gives a first impression of the FIFA successor – and especially one detail stands out, which some fans probably didn’t expect!

EA Sports FC: FIFA successor renames FUT mode!

There has long been speculation as to what FUT mode will be called after losing the naming rights, as the written out FIFA Ultimate Team variant can no longer continue. The new announcement trailer now seems to answer this question: FUT becomes UT!

The lettering “UT” is clearly visible on the icons’ jerseys. In previous years, however, a FUT logo was always emblazoned on the players’ jerseys. In the future, we will probably only be talking about Ultimate Team.

This also seems to eliminate a variant that has been circulating in the social media several times in recent months. In order not to have to change the abbreviation of the virtual trading card game, the community suggested replacing the trademark “FIFA” with the word “Football”. Whether that would have been possible under trademark law is another story.
