At the turn of the year, EA Sports FC 26 received a new evolution for the Ultimate Team mode. The so-called New Year Overdrive Evolution is available free of charge and is aimed at specific player profiles. It brings extensive attribute increases, new roles, and additional play styles.
Requirements for the evolution
The New Year Overdrive Evolution is subject to clear criteria. Only right-backs are eligible. The maximum total value may not exceed 85, and the defensive value may not exceed 82. Cards with more than ten play styles or more than one play style+ are excluded. World Tour Silver Stars and players in the center back position are also not allowed.
Structure of the upgrades
The evolution consists of five consecutive stages. Each stage brings fixed attribute improvements. Already at the first stage, the overall rating increases significantly, complemented by improvements in ball control, skill moves, and a new play style.
In addition, the “Attacking Wingback++” role is unlocked.
In the following stages, dribbling, passing, reactions, stamina, and finishing are further increased, among other things. Later upgrades improve agility, sprint speed, crosses, and vision. At the end of the evolution, the card receives an additional PlayStyle+ and the “Inverted Wingback++” role.
Conditions for unlocking the levels
Each of the five upgrade levels requires the completion of a match. This can be done in Squad Battles at a minimum difficulty of Semi-Pro or alternatively in modes such as Rush, Rivals, Champions, or Live Events. The prerequisite is that the active evolution player is used during the match.
