A Reddit user’s grandmother can probably only smile wearily at over 6,000 hours spent playing League of Legends or Rainbow Six.

The fact that our gaming hobby doesn’t have to have an expiration date is proven time and again by passionate senior gamers who don’t let a few decades of additional life experience stop them from dominating Counter-Strike and other games. Three years ago, for example, we interviewed a 76-year-old retiree who was tearing up the multiplayer lobbies with her clan. And the famous Skyrim Grandma is known throughout the internet.

At the turn of 2026, the spotlight on Reddit belongs to a new star: a 94-year-old senior citizen who is cleaning up in a game that you probably all own – Solitaire or FreeCell. Her grandson, American voice actor Michael Schwalbe (Mafia, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth), shares a picture of her player statistics. His grandmother is ranked Diamond Grandmaster in FreeCell at level 1,720.

Of course, there are now countless versions of FreeCell, so the statistics lack a bit of context, but at least Schwalbe throws a few more numbers into the ring: His grandmother played over 100,000 solitaire games in the old free Windows version before switching to the newer Free2Play version with in-game advertising.

The post has been very well received, with over half a million people viewing it and over 11,000 upvotes. Schwalbe himself responded:

I told Grandma that over 500,000 people are following her ambition […] and after I showed her how many people from all kinds of countries had seen it, she exclaimed, “I can’t believe it, we’re really international. Gosh, I’d better get straight back to playing.” […] The grind never stops when you’re the champ.”

When FreeCell was released in 1995, Schwalbe’s grandmother was in her mid-60s. She didn’t play much back then, her grandson says, but since the children left home and her husband passed away, FreeCell has become her number one hobby. He thinks it’s quite possible that she now plays around 10 to 12 hours a day.

Incidentally, his grandmother refuses to pay the $10 upgrade to the ad-free version, saying it’s a waste of money.
