The new FUT card of Kylian Mbappé raises questions. Because in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, the original gold version of the Frenchman was spotted as a FUT VIP. Atletico star João Félix got the ball rolling

Kylian Mbappé is the cover star of FIFA 22 and therefore also a figurehead for developer EA Sports. However, only a few come close to his new FUT VIP card. The FIFA community is puzzling over this.

Since Wednesday the new map version “FUT VIP” in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team is known. This is a visually modified version of the rare FUT gold card of Kylian Mbappé. However, this special card cannot be obtained through pack openings or certain actions such as squad building challenges. EA Sports confirmed on request of esports.com that the FUT VIP is a unique item which only selected FIFA 22 ambassadors will receive. However, the exact number of these ambassadors is unknown.

The FIFA scene became aware of the FUT VIP through professional footballer João Félix. The Portuguese Atletico Madrid star had posted a picture of the card with Mbappé’s walkout on Instagram and it was quickly shared on other social media platforms. Accordingly, it can be assumed that João Félix is one of the selected FIFA 22 ambassadors. In the previous title FIFA 21, the offensive player was already one of EA Sports’ advertising faces.

In a way, the FUT VIP could serve as a replacement for the abolished Pro Player Cards. Because this special card, which every professional footballer with a 99 overall rating of his own virtual image receives, was cancelled by EA Sports for FIFA 22. While a free top card like Kylian Mbappé’s is an excellent start for an ambassador in FUT, the unfair advantage with a 99 Pro Player is thus no longer given.
