A short developer video from the Siofra River is currently fueling the rumor mill. Will there be a second expansion after all, following *Shadow of the Erdtree*?

Two years ago now, FromSoftware released the *Shadow of the Erdtree* expansion for *Elden Ring*. Fans are still craving more, and a new post from the developer studio has some believing that more is on the way.

Things have been pretty quiet around Elden Ring lately, aside from updates on the multiplayer spinoff Nightreign and the live-action film from A24. However, FromSoftware recently posted a rather cryptic social media update.

Community speculation and reactions to the social media post

“Even the perilous hunt for the demigods offers moments of quiet wonder,” the post reads. The short accompanying video shows a character riding through the Siofra River. It shows a character riding through the Siofra River.

At first glance, this might not seem like a big deal, but the community is already developing theories based on it. “GODWYN DLC” reads one popular reply, for example. Another user writes: “I’m totally getting into this right now, but please give us a second expansion.”

Such vague posts aren’t necessarily unusual for the studio, but the last one of this kindwas quite a while ago.

More Projects in the Elden Ring Universe and a Switch 2 Version

Even though there are no concrete indications of a second expansion for Elden Ring, the reactions show that there is clearly a lot of interest in it.

Filming for the Elden Ring movie was recently completed, and the theatrical release is scheduled for March 2028. Meanwhile, the release of the Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring on the Nintendo Switch 2 is on the horizon. The game is set to launch on August 28, 2026.
