Scalpers have struck while selling tickets for The International. Tickets for the Dota 2 World Championships are being sold for vast sums of money

The International is one of the biggest esport events of the year. This year, the Dota 2 World Championship will be held in Singapore. However, scalpers seem to want to spoil the event for the fans. They bought up the tickets to sell them on the black market at extremely high prices.

At the mega event, the best teams in Dota 2 not only play for the world championship title, but also for a gigantic bonus. Last year, prize money totalling over 40 million US dollars was distributed. The International 2022 takes place as an offline event in front of a live audience.

Tickets went on sale on 13 August and ended early after countless scalpers pounced. After only a short time, the tickets were offered again on websites like Carousell; with a hefty mark-up. Some tickets are listed there for up to 10,000 US dollars. As a rule, a normal standard ticket for one day costs 88 US dollars and for the Grand Finals 498 US dollars.

The ones who suffer are the fans who wanted to support their favourite team on site. They now have a choice: Spend an absurdly high sum on a ticket to be able to be there live at The International or do without with a heavy heart.
