The Swedish organisation Alliance is rebuilding its Dota 2 team – again. Will they find their way back to success with this team?

The once highly respected eSports organisation Alliance has lost much of its shine in recent years. One of the main reasons for this is the miserable performance of their Dota 2 team – the former flagship of their organisation. With old acquaintances and new talent, they are now looking to make a fresh start.

The 4-time comer: Alliance brings back veteran

As a first measure, Alliance veteran Gustav “s4″ Magnusson has been brought back. For the 30-year-old veteran it is already the fourth engagement s4 was a member of the still infamous roster of 2013 that lifted the only World Cup trophy so far. As an experienced tactician and captain, he is expected to set the strategy in-game and in the draft.

He is assisted by Simon “Handsken” Haag, with whom he s4 has been working together in different teams for four years now – most recently in the team they both founded, goonsquad. Together they are to become the architects of success.

The third Swede and also ex-goonsquad player to join the team is Charlie Arat. The carry has established himself as a thoroughly solid botlaner on the European scene, having made a splash in Ninjas in Pyjamas and Chicken Fighters.

Ng “ChYuan” Kee Chyuan is the first of two surprises in the newly formed team. The Malaysian played for Fnatic during the World Cup in October and seems to have won over the crucial personalities at Alliance.

The fifth newcomer to the squad looks like a dare. Remus “ponlo” Goh comes from the Academy team of Aster. Overall, his 2022 was very inconsistent, competing for three different teams: Quincy Crew from North America, Team Fusion (now disbanded) and said Team Aster. Whether ponlo has the necessary stability and security at the support position is at least questionable.
