When does Season 10 of Diablo start? We know the exact date and all the details about the changes.
Fans of Diablo 4 can mark their calendars, because the wait for the tenth season is coming to an end. Blizzard is unleashing a new wave of content with the Season of Hellish Chaos—and of course, Season 10 will also have an impact on the tier lists and class balance.
When does Season 10 of Diablo 4 start? The official start date is Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. German time.
At this point, the servers of Sanctuary will be distorted by Mephisto’s influence, leading to the central theme of the new season. Those who want to dive into the season journey should rethink their builds, because the chaos of hell will cause quite a bit of disruption.
A New Kind of Power
At the heart of the new season is the so-called Chaos Armor, an improved form of the unique items that already exist in the game. Unlike their predecessors, these Chaos Armor pieces can appear in other equipment slots, allowing for completely new combinations and builds.
A unique aspect normally found on chest armor could suddenly appear on boots with Chaos Armor. These items are not only stronger, but always have the maximum strength of the aspect and at least one major affix.
In addition to Chaos Armor, there are Chaos Perks, unstable powers that fundamentally change your skills and combat style. These perks are divided into four rarity tiers and can be unlocked by progressing on the seasonal reputation board. Each class has access to a variety of these effects, including class-specific perks.
Hellhorde Updates and New Challenges
Blizzard has taken on the Hellhorde for Season 10 and permanently revamped them. Chaos Waves are a new encounter that constantly reshapes the battlefield. You can now also activate a Chaos Offering to turn a run into a melting pot of random, rule-breaking encounters.
One of the biggest new features is the new boss fight against Bartuc, Lord of Chaos. This once-mortal warlock was resurrected by Mephisto and can only be fought after defeating the five members of the Cruel Council hiding in cursed dungeons.
Bartuc is said to be an excellent source for the new Chaos armor, which is guaranteed to drop on Torment difficulty levels.
For lower-level players, there are the Transient Hordes, a simplified version of the Hell Hordes, which consists of four waves and ends with a battle against two members of the Cruel Council.
Fresh Loot for Everyone
In addition to the Chaos Armor and the revamped Hell Hordes, there is more new content. Each class receives a new unique item that comes with specific affixes and a unique property.
Here is a brief overview of the new uniques:
- Barbarians: Sabers of Tsasgal
- Druids: Blackwing’s Kilt
- Necromancer: Proclamation of the Follower
- Hunter: Orphan Maker
- Wizard: Galvanic Azurite
- Spiritborn: Hesha e Kesungi
The Season of Hell’s Chaos also introduces a new currency called Hell’s Curve, which you earn by closing Chaos Portals and defeating Chaos Monsters. This currency is used to upgrade Chaos Perks. A new seasonal reputation board, which you fill with “Viz-Jaq’taar’s Reverence,” also unlocks additional rewards, including Pandora, a new fox companion.
The Diablo 4 Battle Pass has also been updated for Season 10, offering both a free and premium version with new cosmetic rewards such as mounts, armor, and city portals. Twitch Drops are returning at the start of the season, and new cosmetics are also available for purchase in Tejal’s Shop.
Some of the most important new features from the Season of Hell’s Chaos will be permanently added to the game. These include the revamp of the Hellish Hordes, the new boss fight against Bartuc, and the new unique items for each class. The changes to the invulnerability phase of bosses, in which shields are now destructible, will also remain in seasonal and eternal realms.
