With the new patch, resolution scaling is always automatically activated.

On March 18, Diablo 4 received a new update that mainly makes changes on the technical side. These changes are all well-intentioned, but in a few cases they could cause blurred optics and are applied automatically.

Diablo 4 now with automatic resolution scaling

With the update 1.079, Diablo 4 is updated to game version 2.1.4. The patch brings support for Intel XeLL and XeSS frame generation. The latter is Intel’s answer to Nvidia’s DLSS technology and is supposed to provide better performance at the same quality. To do this, the game is output at a lower resolution and then scaled up.

Which technology you use depends on your own graphics card. DLSS was already integrated into Diablo 4, but now the necessary technology is automatically selected by the game.

Is this a problem?

On the vast majority of computers, this shouldn’t cause any noticeable changes. But if you like to have full control over your graphics options, you should take a look at it. In some rare cases, the automatic preselection can cause the game to look a bit washed out than before. For example, if the system automatically lowers your base resolution to increase performance.

You can find the option by going to the graphics settings and scrolling down to the Performance sub-item. The resolution scaling can be found right at the top.

What else does the patch bring?

Apart from that, the small patch mainly aims to address a few bugs. Diablo 4 is currently still running Season 7, the Season of Witchcraft. This will continue until the end of April, as Season 8 has been delayed by a few weeks. The patch fixes a few current bugs that can occur in Season 7.

For example, the Purge event should no longer be blocked occasionally and herbs will no longer be hidden on the minimap. Furthermore, it could happen that inquisitors teleported themselves into a city and those who had switched off the swear word filter might no longer be able to rename their equipment.

All of that has now been fixed.
