Cyberpunk 2077 has turned into a real money printing machine. This is especially noticeable at CD Projekt Red after the last update and the Netflix series.

Thanks to the last updates, the Netflix series Edgerunners and the one or other sale, the player numbers of Cyberpunk 2077 went through the roof in the last few months. But that’s not all: CD Projekt Red’s latest financial report shows that the rehabilitation of the role-playing game has paid off financially as well.

This is what the official figures reveal

In fact, the studio was able to break its own record with the most successful third quarter in the 28-year history of the overarching CD Projekt Group – as CFO Piotr Nielubowicz (via VGC) announced. And the developer studio CD Projekt Red made a decisive contribution to the company’s success.

Specifically, CD PR was able to achieve revenues of approximately 54.3 million US dollars in Q3 2022, while a net profit of approximately 21.8 million US dollars resulted for the entire group. The company as a whole thus achieved a profitability of 40 per cent, CD Projekt Red itself even 47 per cent.

What are the reasons?

Nielubowicz personally even dedicates the success and broken record to the strong sales figures of Cyberpunk 2077. The release of patch 1.6, the push from the popularity of the Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and a timely sale for the role-playing game caused sales and player numbers to skyrocket during the period.

After the disastrous launch at the end of 2020, the perception of Cyberpunk 2077 and CD Projekt Red has changed noticeably thanks to continued support – as reflected in the user reviews on Steam, for example. The developer studio is now also benefiting from this financially.

What happens next

The support of Cyberpunk 2077 has not yet reached its end. CD Projekt Red, for example, already let it be known what upcoming patches and updates will deliver. With Phantom Liberty, the first and only story DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 is also due in 2023, which even brings back Keanu Reeves in the role of Johnny Silverhand.

You can watch the first trailer for Phantom Liberty as follows.
