Counter-Strike 2 is officially scheduled for release sometime in the summer of 2023. A time is now supposed to reveal the exact release date

Game developers are always hiding the smallest details or crazy Eastereggs in their games. In Battlefield, for example, they send you on great scavenger hunts, and in Diablo 4, fans search for the legendary cow level.

In contrast, the beta of Counter-Strike 2 is supposed to have an important secret right under your nose, a fan now claims. However, this theory could just be a joke.

The release date as time?

When Counter-Strike 2 was announced in March 2023, there were pictures, gameplay videos with massive info, and a closed beta for the new shooter started soon. However, Valve is still silent about the exact release date. Sometime in the summer the game is supposed to be released, but the time window for an announcement is closing more and more.

On Twitter, a fan now claims to have found the solution to the riddle, hidden under all our eyes. Well, at least in front of the eyes of the beta players. According to the Twitter post, two clocks on the CS2 map Overpass indicate the release time:

According to this theory, Counter-Strike 2 would open its doors to all players on either August 5 or 24  But whether Valve actually wanted to make a hidden announcement here, or rather a developer simply chose a random time for this asset, is not really clear. It is also possible that hobshy is simply allowing himself a joke here.

If CS2 really does come out in the summer of 2023 as announced, Valve won’t have too much time left for an announcement. That one picks a date as late as possible in the summer, at the end of August, would also be quite possible.

What do you think of the rather thin fan theory about the release of Counter-Strike 2? Do you think it’s just a hoax anyway, or do you think it’s possible that Valve actually hides the release date so clearly visible in the game? And do you think that CS2 will still be released in summer? Feel free to tell us in the comments!
