A new Esports highlight is coming up in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – and it’s only three months away! Organiser PGL released the location, time and prize money for the event on Wednesday.

The tournament organiser PGL has more than surprisingly announced the next Major event in CS:GO. On Wednesday at 1pm German time, it was announced that the prestigious tournament will take place in a few months in the Belgian city of Antwerp.

One of the most important CS:GO tournaments of the year is thus suddenly in the starting blocks. From 9 to 22 May, the world’s best teams will compete in the LAN event, to which spectators will also be admitted in the playoffs. It is the second PGL Major in a row. It was only on 7 November 2021 that the final of the most recent top event was decided in Stockholm, Sweden, where Natus Vincere and superstar Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev were crowned champions for the first time.

The playoffs of the CS:GO Major in Antwerp will be held at the Sportpaleis. The multifunctional arena mainly hosts concerts as well as sporting events. Tickets for the playoffs, which will take place from 19 to 22 May, should be available soon. The event, sponsored by developer Valve, is endowed with one million US dollars in prize money.

Organiser PGL additionally notes that due to the ongoing pandemic, all details are being reviewed to ensure the safety of everyone involved in the CS:GO major. This is the first time that a Major event will be held in Belgium. The upcoming RMR competitions, through which professional teams can qualify for the prestigious tournament, will also be hosted by PGL. Further information about these qualifying tournaments is still pending.
