New images, the reveal date and weapons from Call of Duty 2023 have been leaked. The creators take it with humor.

Dataminers have dug up new info on CoD 2023: Apparently, fresh details about Modern Warfare 3, which is scheduled for release in November, are hiding in the game files of Warzone Season 5.

The reveal date, a list of weapons and the official key artwork for the new Call of Duty have been circulating on various social media channels.

Even the publisher’s official Twitter channel reacts to this. On the platform (recently renamed X), the CoD outfit writes cheekily:

“The joke’s on you: here’s the real key artwork. Our artistic skills and more very you then next week.” There’s a funny stick figure image to go with it:

With this tongue-in-cheek response, of course, the publisher credits the leaks with strong credibility, while at the same time taking the dataminers’ work for a bit of a ride.

Leak 1: The artwork

The actual (leaked artwork( shows actor Barry Sloane as Captain Price, which he embodies since MW 2019. So once again, the SAS soldier with the distinctive beard will play a supporting role

In addition, the image once again confirms the title Modern Warfare 3 (and thus a full-price release) as well as the change to a red color scheme, which was leaked before.

Leak 2: The Reveal

That MW3 will be revealed in the form of an in-game event in Warzone has been considered certain for a while now. Now, however, the date has been leaked: On Thursday, August 17, 2023 the event is likely to go over.

So at the latest then masses of new details will be revealed in an official way. In the week before, so between August 7 and 13, the first teasers are expected, as the CoD tweet above already indicates.

Leak 3: The weapons

A long list of codenames have also been uncovered, which can be attributed to CoD Modern Warfare 3’s upcoming weapons. Insiders have already been able to crack most of the codes, providing quite extensive impression of the arsenal in CoD 2023.

What we already know officially: The weapons from the current MW2 will be carried over to the sequel this time! Here are the MW3 weapons from the leak:

  • Remington ACR 5.56mm

Whether the leaks are accurate and also the weapon list is correct, we will of course only see in the coming weeks as more official info is announced.

But one thing is certain: the new CoD 2023  will tie in very directly with the setting and story of the current Modern Warfare 2 and will be developed by Sledgehammer Games, who are known for CoD Vanguard and CoD WW2.

Presumably a new installment from Treyarch will then follow in 2024 – rumored to be set in the Iraq War.
