Both Call of Duty and Battlefield want to entice you with free promotions this weekend. And there are even more free games on Steam and Epic.

If you want to play a lot of games this weekend without spending any money, then we have some good news for you: There are still hundreds of demos active on Steam, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is holding an open beta for everyone, Battlefield 2042 is looking to top that with a freebie promotion, and there are several other titles up for grabs as well.

We have listed all the free games for the weekend. You only have to click on the respective link to get directly to the offer on Steam or Epic. Have fun browsing!

1st highlight of the week: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

(Genre: Shooter – Developer: Sledgehammer Games – Free to play until: October 16, 7pm)

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 invites from 14 to 16 October to the open multiplayer beta. No matter on which platform and whether you own the main game: Everyone can download the test version for free and get started. Either via Steam, Battle.net or the respective console store.

The movement is closer to Modern Warfare (2019) again this time, the visibility has been significantly improved and if you played the original Modern Warfare 3, you will recognise the maps.

2nd highlight of the week: Battlefield 2042

(Genre: Shooter – Developer: DICE – Free to play until: 16 October)

Battlefield 2042 doesn’t want to leave the battlefield to the big shooter competitor Call of Duty without a fight and offers you an alternative programme: You can play for free until 16 October. Season 6 has just been released and has a whole new map with it, on which you should fight especially many close fights. Or you can stick to the old familiar maps and see what has changed since the difficult release.

The shooter is also on sale on Steam right now, if you want to buy it right after testing it. It’s currently reduced to just under 10 euros, but the Battle Pass is not included yet.

More free games for the weekend

Steam Next Fest: Until 16 October, there are literally thousands of games available for you to try without any obligation

(Blazing Sails): A pirate battle royale in which you and your crew sail the Caribbean and plunder treasures. Still in Early Access, but already getting many good user ratings on Steam (89 percent positive).

 A pirate battle royale.

  • Get it for free and keep it permanently until: October 19 at 4:59pm (go to Epic)

Qube Ultimate Bundle: Two brilliant puzzle games that will tie your brain in knots. But in a pleasant way! If you like Portal, you should at least give Qube and Qube 2 a try.

  • Get it for free and keep it permanently until: October 19 at 16:59 (go to Epic)

Forts: Real-time strategy meets physically elaborate simulated destruction. You build fortresses that your opponent then wants to flatten and vice versa. The fun multiplayer can be played for free over the weekend.

What game will keep you busy this weekend? Are you grabbing one (or more) from the freebies on Steam or Epic? Are you catching up on your Pile of Joy? Or are you just taking a short breather after the big releases of the last few months? Drop us a line in the comments!
