When does Season 3 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 start? And what new features are in the update? We have the first information for you.

The next Season Change in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and of course in Warzone 2 is getting closer. We have all the important information about the release and the innovations of Season 3 for you: What there is to know about new maps, weapons, operators, features and the Battle Pass.

Currently Season 2 Reloaded is in full swing, you still have some time to play through the Battle Pass. Or get the new operator Shredder (yes, the guy from Ninja Turtles). When and how do we continue with Season 3?

Season 3: The most important information about the release

Release: When does Season 3 start?

Season 3 will start on 12 April 2023. As for the time, we can again assume a launch at around 6pm. The Battle Pass of Season 2 Reloaded will expire on 11 April 2023.

Download: How big is Season 3?

Likely to be between 15 and 30 GB in size. Activision has not yet given any details on the size of the update. Based on the last seasons, Season 3 should be comparable in size. A preload will be available a few hours before the launch, as expected.

Mid-Season: When does Season 3 Reloaded start?

Probably mid-May: It has become common practice that every CoD season gets a big update with new features in the middle. Season 3 Reloaded doesn’t have a start date yet, but it should be sometime in mid-May.

Roadmap: All new content in Season 3

Meanwhile, the official roadmap of Season 3 has been revealed in the course of a (blogpost). What kind of new maps, weapons, operators and features are coming to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, we have summarised for you in the following sections.

More firepower

As usual, Season 3 is once again packed with new maps, weapons, game modes and other content. As already revealed in a leak on 29 March, a total of 13 new weapons await us until Season 5, some of which boast a certain familiarity in Call of Duty.

One of these weapons already awaits us in Season 3 in the form of a new old sniper rifle. The FJX Imperium should look extremely familiar to many CoD fans upon closer inspection, as it is a clone of arguably the most famous sniper in Call of Duty history – the M200 Intervention.

CoD professional gamer FaZe Dirty has already been able to play a few test rounds with the new sniper rifle at Infinity Ward Studios and has really scared the trousers off one or two other developers. The CDL pro was thrilled with the weapon and gave it a clear recommendation.

Those who also want to enjoy the classic will have to wait until 12 April and will probably not be able to avoid buying the Battle Pass for the time being.

More classics

The multiplayer of Modern Warfare 2 gets further reinforcement after the new map Himmelmatt Expo added in Season 2 Reloaded. With Pelayos’s Lighthouse the start of Season 3 brings another map to the game that might be familiar to some CoD veterans.

Part of the new map is strongly reminiscent of the classic map Estate from 2009’s Modern Warfare. Whether this is just part old map or the entire map is not yet clear.

After Shoothouse and Shipment it would be the third remake of a former Call of Duty map.

Loot Money & Ranked

While the new multiplayer maps are exclusive to Modern Warfare 2, after a rather weak Season 2 Reloaded update, we can finally look forward to new content in Warzone 2 as well.

With Season 3, both Loot Moneyand Ranked Mode are making their way into the Battle Royale shooter.

The loot money mode (engl. “Plunder”) was with short interruptions one of the most popular modes in Warzone Caldera and has been sorely missed at least since a glitch in early December, which announced its possible return in Warzone 2.
