Shortly before the release of Modern Warfare II, the developers have announced the return of two map classics in the new CoD.

It was surprising news that the developers published in their blog. Infinity Ward is giving the community two map classics from former Call of Duty games.

Two new maps

As we all know, the unexpected often comes. As the developers have announced in a (Blog Post) two maps that were absolute fan favourites are to make their comeback in Modern Warfare II.

To coincide with the release of Warzone 2.0 and the start of Season 1 on 16 November, Infinity Ward wants to bring back the first map from past Call of Duty days. Then on 14 December, the second “legendary” multiplayer map is to follow.

The developers themselves have not yet revealed which maps will be involved. There is already a lot of speculation on Twitter as to whether the maps are connected to the Warzone 2.0 release.

Some assume that the maps are POIs from the new BR map Al Mazrah. The assumption is obvious, considering that many of the POIs have a connection to old Call of Duty games.

Besides HighriseQuarry and Terminal  would also Favela or Shipment make good maps. They all enjoyed great popularity in their time and have more than earned the title of “classic”.

DMZ, Raid and Second Map

As was only recently announced, the missing map Grand Prix will also soon be available again in Modern Warfare II. The map, which is based on a Formula 1 race track, had suddenly disappeared shortly before the start of the beta. Incidentally, the mysterious new DMZ mode will also be released at the same time as Warzone 2.0, the first of the two new maps and Season 1.

In addition to the second map, the new raid mode will also be released on 14 December, which focuses on co-op and is supposed to be reminiscent of Destiny gameplay. In teams of 3, we face AI opponents and have to survive intense firefights as well as smaller puzzles and brainteasers.

Whether the second map will have anything to do with the raid mode is still unclear.
