Caldera replaces Verdansk and has been playable in Call of Duty: Warzone since Wednesday. Here’s what popular streamers have to say about the new map.

The new map Caldera in Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific has been playable in Early Access since Wednesday. This Thursday evening, the rest of the gaming community will also gain access. However, the experience so far is not too positive, according to some well-known streamers.

The biggest criticism of the community seems to be the size of Caldera. According to many voices, the map is too big and as a result there are only a few firefights.

Rhys “Rated” Price from the 100 Thieves has not been enthusiastic so far. He tweeted on Wednesday evening: “Add 100 players and then I will judge the map. Currently I am only playing a running sim so I am withholding my judgement.” He is not the only one with a wish for more player:ins in the lobby. Streamer Almxn also posted that he would like to have more than 200 participants.

But keep in mind: Caldera is brand new, so understandably a large portion of the game’s players spend the game actually running around and exploring the island. Only when everyone has got used to the new environment does the actual meta, tactics and more consistent gameplay crystallise.

Apparently, however, not only the size and the wide areas are a point of criticism, but also the general layout. As Aydan Conrad from the NY Subliners, among others, wrote on Wednesday, some players are currently camping on the hills and simply shooting down the coming opponents without being in danger themselves. The content creator even went so far as to reply to a fan that he might turn his back on CoD. For the time being, however, he would like to give the map a little more time.

Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV aka Dr Disrespect voiced his opinion more than clearly. The more he plays Caldera and the WW2 setting, the stronger his need to throw up on his expensive PC gear, according to the streamer star. More matter-of-factly, he then explained that he finds the following negative: constant uphill or downhill battles, weak ground loot, waiting game for the first loadout and third party interference.

The German YouTuber Haptic also revealed that he prefers Verdansk. In addition, he started a poll in his community about what his fans think of Caldera. Almost 70 per cent of the currently over 3,000 votes chose “meh” – a clear statement.
