Hundreds of thousands of accounts down! Activision punishes toxic behaviour and racism in BOCW and Warzone

In a new online blog post, Activision talks about the fight against toxicity and racism in Call of Duty. The company says it has already banned over 350,000 accounts using a new filter that weeds out problematic usernames, clan tags and active text messages in over 11 languages.

But that’s not all. Activision probably doesn’t want to rest on its laurels and will continue to take action against inappropriate behaviour in the future.

There’s much more to do, including expanding player reporting and moderation capabilities and addressing voice chat to combat toxicity. Our goal is to give players the tools they need to manage their own gaming experience, combined with an enforcement approach that addresses hate speech, racism, sexism and harassment.

To achieve this goal, Activision will put more resources into filtering and enforcement, update databases, and increase communication with the community.

We know we have a long way to go to achieve our goals. This is just the beginning of an ongoing commitment that we will not waver from.
