Patch 3.3 has been released and brings some minor bug fixes as well as a long requested revision of the scoreboard. The reactions so far have been rather restrained.

Even in the beta and at the latest since the new DICE shooter was released on 19 November 2021, voices began to accumulate that were dissatisfied with the heavily damped scoreboard. Many months later, the developers of Battlefield 2042 have now released their revised version with update 3.3, which according to their own information is strongly oriented towards the feedback of the community.

Let’s take a look at how the community has received it so far, how big the download is and what else is in the patch.

Only recently it became known that the maps of the multiplayer game will also be completely redesigned. You can find the complete announcement here:

Battlefield 2042 announces radical redesign of its maps

Patch 3.3 was released on 08 March 2022, has a download size of around 2.2 GB on PC, did not involve any maintenance and will be automatically made available to you on the sales platform of your choice before the next game launch.

This is what the scores will look like in the future

The original scoreboard displayed only a handful of match, squad and self statistics, which offered too few opportunities for comparison with their peers and opponents, especially for competitive players.

Here you can once again compare old against new:

On the left side of the new scoreboard you will find the revised match overview as well as a list of your personal kills, deaths and supports. The recently earned badges and your ping can also be found on this page.

The rest of the screen is now entirely dedicated to the server-wide player statistics, which now also list deaths again. The table is divided into the respective teams in the game modes Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush and Team Deathmatch, and your squad and you are highlighted in green.

DICE stresses that this is just the basic version of the new scoreboard and that there are more improvements to come, such as the end-of-match score display, based on continued feedback from players.

This is what players think of the new design

Not everyone happy with new scoreboard: While the redesign itself is welcomed in many places, some players also express obvious irritation with the choice of symbols. A skull for kills and an X for the number of deaths is an unintuitive and idiosyncratic choice that unnecessarily tries to set itself apart from the genre standard.

Twitter user ChazzonKe, on the other hand, says that although he was rather critical of the previous updates, he is pleased that the competitive shooter finally has a matching score table.

Does the update bring too few improvements? Others, however, are disappointed with the scope of the patch and, after all the months since the release and the postponement of the patch, would have liked to see not only a UI change but also technical and game-mechanical improvements.

For example, (ATFGunr) writes in the official forum that his game still often starts in too low a resolution and that many still get stuck in loading screens. He calls on the developers to assign more programmers to the hundreds of bugs that have been reported by players so far.

One of these bugs, which probably still plagues many players, is the so-called ADS bug, which prevents you from aiming via the rear sight or through the sight or scope – especially if you have just left a vehicle. Others complain about the many servers, which are mainly populated by AI opponents.

What else is in the update

Apart from the new scoreboard, Patch 3.3 only brings a small selection of changes, but we don’t want to deprive you of them here:

General:

  • Fixed a game crash that could occur on Origin or Xbox One if you were using an Xbox One controller when logging in or out
  • For the “Chat” button assignment setting to take effect, it is no longer necessary to restart the game
  • Adjusted the aiming assist on console to ensure that the system works even when analogue sticks are operating at 100% of their range. Previously it was only active at distances below 100%
  • Fixed a bug where takedowns on Xbox One and PlayStation4® did not result in a kill
  • New location of our EU data centre in Frankfurt

Modes:

  • Conquest & Breakthrough – Fixed a bug where the EP event “Target is secured” was triggered even if a conquest point was already fully conquered
  • Hazard™ Zone – Fixed a graphic bug where squad members were displayed during the “Game Found” sequence
  • Hazard™ Zone – Fixed a bug where sometimes the XP would not trigger at the end of the round

Gift:

In addition, upgrade owners of Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition, Year 1 Pass, Year 1 Pass with Ultimate Pack, and EA Play Pro subscribers will receive a cosmetic bundle as a small loyalty gift if purchased before February 1, 2022.

The steadfast bundle comes with the following content:

  • Skin “No Resistance” for Mackay
  • Weapon skin “Grasshopper” for the K30
  • Weapon skin “Fast Hammer” for the M44
  • Vehicle Skin “Iron Wagon” for the M5C Bolte
  • Gun skin “Rib Tickler “
  • Player Card Background “Resolute “
  • The Resolute Player Card Icon
