A feature in Battlefield 6 is apparently known to only a few, but it could massively improve the K/D of some players in helicopter combat.
You never stop learning in life. This saying is probably buzzing around in the heads of thousands of Battlefield players who have come across an extremely helpful Reddit post.
Helicopter controls have never been particularly intuitive in the shooter series. Until now, the rule was: You shoot in the direction you’re flying. But aligning the helicopter correctly takes time and can be dangerous.
In Battlefield 6, veterans have resigned themselves to the controls and haven’t questioned anything – but in doing so, they’ve probably missed out on a huge number of kills.
This changes everything!
The user Kronocide shares a gameplay video on Reddit featuring numerous kills from the helicopter in Battlefield 6. The title of the post:
I was [today] years old when I realized that we’re supposed to aim the Zumi/Hydra missiles with Freeview Mode… I feel so stupid for not knowing that.

Kronocide was able to aim and shoot freely from both the first-person and third-person perspectives, while the positioning of the helicopter was hardly relevant, instead of always steering his helicopter in the direction of the target as before. This means he can shoot faster and more accurately without having to perform dangerous flight maneuvers at the same time.
However, over 11,000 upvotes show that Kronocide is certainly not the only person who didn’t know this.
As Still_Ad_4997: Bruh, you just blew my mind.
JollyCamper is just as enthusiastic: I always jumped straight to what I wanted to shoot 😀 This changes everything! Thanks for sharing!!
Many other users, such as Kush_Cloudz420 are unsure whether they may have missed this feature in previous versions, but free aiming in helicopters was only added in Battlefield 6.
Controller users should also benefit from this feature, but the default setting is a bit awkward. If you want to shoot in freeview mode, you can’t fly at the same time. However, you can select a different button in the settings and, for example, banish the comparatively useless zoom function from the controller.
