Battlefield 6is serving players the game’s largest map to date at the start of Season 3. So far, fans seem to be enjoying what’s on the menu. Initial reactions to Railway to Golmud have been overwhelmingly positive, although they’ve also voiced criticism of the map selection so far.
We’re totally back
With the launch of Season 3, player numbers for Battlefield 6 surged, peaking at 80,000 players online simultaneously. Most of them, of course, wanted to try out the new map, Railway to Golmud—and they weren’t disappointed:
This map is exactly what I’ve been asking for since the beta. It feels like a real Battlefield map, gives you the freedom to play however you like, and feels more like a sandbox. I really hope we get more big maps like this, please Dice!!
First and foremost, it is simply thesize of the new map that excites players:
We’re totally back. […] I’ve played a few rounds of Conquest and Escalation and have to say, I loved every minute of it. All playstyles are back. I loved making huge flanking maneuvers at the various capture points. […] It’s a great modern version of the map.
Fans also appreciate theevolution of Golmud compared to the original. After all, the original was notorious for being dominated by tanks and snipers.
An absolutely masterfully crafted rework. […] Despite its notorious reputation, BF Studios has managed to transform a controversial map into a modern masterpiece. […]
Tank battles are complex and exciting, and the infantry combat zones feel tight and well-structured. There is more depth, better destruction, and excellent verticality. The train has transformed from a cheap gimmick into one of the best dynamic objectives in Battlefield history.
Fans also praise the new map’sgenerously designed airspacefor helicopters and jets, which breathing room between firefightsand simply the visuals of Railway to Golmud.
In addition to the new map, Season 3 naturally also brings a major update with various balance changes for weapons, vehicles, and gadgets, as well as improvements to the netcode and more. There is also some criticism here, for example regarding theNerfing the Anti-Air Tankandmost weapon classes. Both are the subject of heated debate, but overall, the mood among fans is currently very positive.
